DID YOU GO TO ART SCHOOL?
I transferred to art school my second year of university after realizing I wanted to pursue art as a professional career. Not long after I was presented a job opportunity in the animation industry that I couldn't pass up! I did pick up on some useful art tips despite my time at school being short, but most of the skills I've learned are self taught and developed through work experience in the industry.

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR JOB IN THE INDUSTRY?
Getting into the industry, whether animation or illustration, can happen in many ways. Based off what I've experienced, making connections and showing off your work are key -- I don't think I would've gotten the opportunity to work so early if I didn't begin to share my work online! Another way to get noticed is by connecting directly with fellow artists and creators. Building a community not only boosts your career but also opens doors to new friendships! Participating in conventions like LightBox Expo, whether as an attendee or an exhibitor, is a fantastic way to showcase your talents and grab the attention of professionals. Plus, you'll meet tons of cool people along the way!

HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR ART STYLE?
An art style is a combination of everything you like! Any sort of inspiration from your everyday life can influence your work, and creating a style is taking all of those elements and morphing them together into something that is uniquely you. What inspires you? Is it a favorite show or an artist you follow online? Maybe it's as simple as watching the sunset because you like the combination of colors. Take note of all of those inspirations and implement them into your art. It's a process that is meant to be very personal, and will only develop the more you hone in your art skills. Remember to be patient with yourself and just enjoy the process! And don't stress too much about "finding" your style, because styles are meant to change and evolve as time goes by. We as humans won't always have the same inspirations forever, and our style is meant to reflect that.
